There is a vertically-striped(縦じまの) groove(溝) of the cap.
A vertically-striped groove(縦じまの溝) of a cap is to let off steam(蒸気を逃がす) from the pet bottle. It makes gas go out instantly and keep the cap from flying off(吹き飛ぶ) when you open the cap.
ペットボトルの飲み口に縦に入った溝はキャップを開けた際、瞬時に溝からガスが抜けるように工夫したものです。 キャップが弾け飛ぶのを防いでいます。

Ronald Mace was in a wheelchair from childhood, and often had a difficult time.
He wanted to make design for everyone. In the 1980s, he founded the Center for Universal Design, and spread his idea around the world. I think universal design is important because now there are a lot of challenged people in the world, and in addition, when we get older, we can become disabled someday.
